By developing the "Space Tycoon" metaverse game hub, Samsung has joined the ranks of other major tech firms. The massive South Korean tech company keeps investing money in the meta-space. After a series of connected events just a few weeks ago, some people saw the move as being rather unexpected.
The game, which was created on Roblox's metaverse platform, gives players a variety of opportunities for development and experiences. Gamers, for instance, can create their own Samsung items and utilize them in this virtual setting to interact with others.
Samsung claimed that Tycoon would give "Gen Z a new playground that they have never experienced before," catering mostly to the Gen Z demographic. Vice President of the Samsung Electronics Corporate Design Center Jinsoo Kim made the claim.
Space Tycoon is intended to be a virtual playground where numerous users can explore the virtually limitless possibilities, according to Kim. We wanted to provide our Gen Z customers a chance to use Samsung products in a novel way. We'll keep showcasing material that gives our present and potential customers more enjoyable and valuable digital experiences.
The play area is fashioned after a space station populated by alien figures. The station is made up of a mining area where the raw materials for the creation of the new items are obtained, a research lab where they are developed, and a shop where they are sold. There are some obvious nods to the "tycoon" business simulation genre in the playground's overall design and operation.
Using the materials from the mines, users can create a wide range of products, including phones, TVs, and appliances. Additionally, goods can be purchased and upgraded by players. Even everyday objects, like phones, can be transformed into novel gadgets. For instance, the Jet Bot vacuum cleaner can transform into a hoverboard, the foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Flip can transform into a scooter, and The Sero lifestyle TV can transform into a one-person helicopter.
Currently, there are about 20 Samsung goods available in the Shop. As customers attain new benchmarks and levels, the colors of these things will fluctuate at random. Products from new product series must be updated often.
14 languages, including Chinese, Spanish, French, Korean, and English, will be available when the platform debuts. Users will also be able to connect with one another, share their creations, and go to exclusive virtual parties, though these capabilities won't be available right once.
With the hashtag #YouMake campaign, Samsung will host targeted, less exclusive events online through Samsung.com that emphasize coloring and collecting its items.
For Samsung, this is a busy time in the metaverse. It previously declared that it would attend CES 2022 and use the Gaming Hub to include a variety of programs into its TVs, including Stadia, Xbox, and GeForce Now. Furthermore, Samsung has contributed to Planetarium Games' expansion as a blockchain game developer.
