Snoop Dogg, an American artist, is still making strides in the non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and metaverse spaces. He just recently filed for new metaverse and NFT trademarks.
The rapper from California registered the terms "Uncle Snoop" and "Uncle Snoop's" as trademarks on June 14. According to rumours, Snoop Dogg is considering setting up a store in the metaverse where he would sell various items including virtual cigarettes, weed, and apparel, headgear, and shoes.
The trademark filings indicate that Snoop Dogg would want to offer such items as non-fungible tokens. As trademark lawyer Mike Kondoudis points out, although you can't get "high" in the metaverse, people may still purchase the goods, much like the skins in the well-known video game Fortnite.
In an interview with Billboard, Kondoudis said that given the significant time and financial commitment required to file trademark applications, he would not be surprised if Snoop Dogg was already in the process of starting such a firm.
On the other hand, those looking for further details will have to wait. Even the rapper has not made any public remarks on the trademarks, which generally take 12 to 18 months to be authorised by the USPTO.
One of the famous people who has long backed NFTs and collaborated with several NFT developers and projects is Snoop Dogg. For instance, the rapper has worked with several projects, including The Sandbox on Ethereum, and he owns Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.
The trademark applications made by Snoop Dogg are indeed fascinating, but only time will tell what concepts may evolve from them. But for now, it's obvious that the rapper is heavily involved with Web3, NFTs, and the metaverse.
